Day 2
FES MEDINA EXCURSION WITH LOCAL GUIDE
Today, we will tour the medina of Fes as well as explore a new area of the city. The medina, the historic section of the city, is home to many fascinating sights and museums. Fes served as Morocco's capital for almost 300 years. The University of Al Karaouine, the world's oldest university, is also located here. We will also visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. Other significant parts of the town include the tanneries, the Royal Palace, and the Jewish enclave named Mellah, with its synagogue. A visit to a pottery workshop is included in our private Morocco tour of Fes.Later in the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the Fes medina on your own. Overnight in Riad.
Day 4
MERZOUGA - TODGHA - DADES VALLEY - OUARZAZATE - MARRAKECH
Today we'll go to Dades, stopping at Rissani, the initial capital of the Alaouite monarchy. Tinghir will take us through the Ziz Valley and gorges. Before driving through Dades Valley, we'll stop for lunch and you may have a walk at Todgha Gorge. We proceed to Skoura and Ouarzazate, where we visit the Taourirt Kasbah. We visit the famed kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the setting for films such as The Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia. Then we drive via the High Atlas and the Tizi n'Tichka Pass. When we get to Marrakech in the afternoon, we will drop you off at your hotel.
Day 1
CASABLANCA - RABAT - FES
Today we begin our 5-day Sahara Desert Tour from Casablanca, driving from your accommodation to Rabat, where we will see the Chellah, Hassan II Tower, and the 12th-century Kasbah of the Udayas. Then we explore the historic ramparts and shops in the old medina.Next, we travel to Moulay Idriss, a holy village with defensive walls, before visiting Meknes, one of Morocco's imperial cities. We admire the magnificent mosaics at the Roman remains of Volubilis and pass through the imperial gate known as Bab Mansour.We conclude the day in Fes, where you will tour the imperial city, visiting sites like the Fes Royal Palace, the Jewish quarters, and the Medina—a maze of alleyways filled with bustling souks. Stay overnight in Fes.
Day 3
FES - MERZOUGA VIA IFRANE AND MIDELT
Today we leave Fes through Ifrane, a well-known winter ski resort. We continue driving through the cedar forest, watching the monkeys, and entering the Middle Atlas Mountains and Berber towns. We'll stop for lunch at Midelt, a town known for its minerals and apples.We arrive in the desert near Merzouga. You will meet the guide and ride a camel over the sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will take in the grandeur of the sunset before heading to the desert camp to spend the night in a Berber tent. After supper, you can gaze at the stars while listening to Berber music.
Day 5
GUIDED TOUR OF MARRAKECH - TRANSFER TO CASABLANCA
Today we're heading to Marrakech. You will first see the Palais de Bahia, followed by the Koutoubia Mosque, a symbol of Marrakech that serves as a tourist orientation point. We visit the world-famous Jemaa el-Fnaa plaza, where we meet snake charmers, traditional-clothed traders, and henna artists. We explore the local souk, which is a market.Transfer to Casablanca at the end of your 5-day Sahara Desert Tour.
